Long regarded as a leading expert in agriculture in Ontario, Planscape has worked with various municipalities in the Golden Horseshoe and Central Ontario to provide support in ensuring the long-term sustainability of agriculture in the province. Planscape specializes in profiling the agriculture sector in specific municipalities, then building on that work to support, promote and enhance the sector.
Over the years our work has included economic impact analyses, LEAR studies to inform Official Plan reviews, profiling of agriculture in different areas and of specific commodities, development of strategic plans to support agriculture and development of policies to support agricultural value-added activities, both on and off the farm. We have conducted comprehensive reviews of land use policy (local, regional and provincial) and current land use issues regarding agriculture and related uses.
In addition to studies on agricultural land use issues, we have completed studies related to specialty crops, including grains and oil seeds, fruits and vegetables, greenhouse production and horticultural crops. Underlying all of our work is the goal to support ongoing agricultural production that is environmentally sensitive and economically sustainable.
